Dammit, Ben! I knew there was a reason I was drawn to "The New Basics Cookbook" at the estate sale I patroned this weekend. I thought it was just the retro typography and book cover, but I should've known it was you, from beyond the veil, nudging me in the right direction. And I, like a FOOL, ignored it! Never again. P.S. I loveeee seeing people's book stacks and bookshelves! Thanks for sharing yours! :)
I'm the same as you with the internet printout 3 ring binder. Mine is a 3" binder that only has desserts and I'm just about ready for a new one. What size binder did you end up using for your printouts and how did you organize them?
Ina’s cookbooks are all the color coding you need on those glorious shelves! I’ve been curious if her more recent books are truly new content or more variation on a theme of Jeffrey liking chicken? I also feel guilty for buying cookbooks- reading them like novels and then letting them sit there while cooking from a Diane Morrissey IG post instead!
I love the idea of a binder for Internet recipes. And it makes it easier for my kids, who only use my instant pot rice recipe (teen boys carbo loading). If I'm not home then they don't have to bug me, and I'll have an excuse to by a cute binder and other office supplies because all the after school stuff will be on clearance at target! Omg I'm getting very excited for this shopping trip!
Loved seeing all these! Would love a deep dive on that Broadway one, too. What a cool idea. I always thought a great cookbook would be one with recipes from movies. That probably exists somewhere…
I love a peek at anyone’s bookshelves. One of my main pandemic joys was analyzing the bookshelves you’d see behind nearly every major news reader. This is as good as going through someone’s purse to see what they carry (not to steal anything). You and I have enough overlap on our shelves that I felt completely comfortable ordering the Shabbat book instantly. Thanks also for my doh! moment of putting my baking books on their very own shelf. I’ve got a recipe card index of my mother’s/grandmother’s, which I absolutely prize. I think your binder of internet recipes is the modern equivalent, so yes, please, we need a peek inside!

Love this! We have a lot of overlap with cookbooks. Wish we could discuss favorites!
What's your favorite Ina cookbook?
Given that they’re all great - “How Easy Is That” is the one I seem to reach for the most!
I have been waiting for this kind of post! I love this. I will be looking at these pics before I head to a used bookstore :)
You already have plenty of cookbooks but if there’s room for one more I highly recommend the joy of cooking! It’s a classic for a reason!
Would love an Ottolenghi deep dive!
Surprised to see that you don’t have any Smitten Kitchen or Rose Levy Berenbaum.

Now that Southern Charm is back, you might need to add the REAL low country cookbook. Gullah Geechee Home Cooking by Emily Meggett.
I hear that book is amazing, but I truly fear for my arteries. Cheryl Day is already pushing me towards a staten.
Well, the pictures alone will raise your cholesterol. But, Miss Emily’s story & what she has done to preserve her culture is worth it! ❤️😂
