Oh Ina, what would we do without her? I love this recipe too. My constant go to Ina recipe are the Parmesan Thyme Crackers which are basically savory shortbread. I picture Mary Berry saying “scrummy” when I bite into one. But if Dom loves pasta, you have to try Carla Lalli Music’s Pasta with Cacio e Walnut. It’s incredible.
This is going into the Christmas Eve rotation. My family is Italian American and we do the seven fishes but my in laws need their meat! I usually do sausage over polenta with my red sauce and regular meatballs. I always want to break out of the basic recipes I learned from my Mum and Dad. Fennel is such an underused ingredient (other than in sweet italian sausage where I grew up) and I am looking forward to making this! Thanks Beeen!
Finishing up sopranos with my boyfriend tonight and was just looking for the perfect dish - and here it is!
Awesome! I decided to post on a Friday so people could have the weekend to try it!
Came for the recipe and staying for Bolo

Wow this is an honor that it’s headed to your Xmas table!
Will always refer to it now as "Benognese" :-)
Love the use of fennel and the detail of the recipe. Can’t wait to try it. Thank you for posting.
Is it a terrible idea to use ground chicken or turkey for those of us that don't eat red meat? :)
It’s a great idea! I’ve totally used Italian chicken sausage to great effect.
This dish was so yummy! Going to make it for the 2nd time this weekend. I'm a huge Ina fan and your take on her dish is perfection.
Amazing! I can’t wait to try this recipe! I love your writing voice, it’s like you’re talking to us (me). Can’t wait for more!
Can’t wait to try this recipe this week! I am a horrible cook so I love all your tips in between steps. 😊
Are you going to be posting once a week?
Looks delicious Ben! Can’t wait to try it.
Thank you, Ben (my nice Jewish boy!) I trust you more than life itself. Off to make me some Bolonnaise!
This looks so good!
