Butter the bread and also spray the pan. Good tip!

I can’t wait until lunch tomorrow to try this!

Ben - I know you said you’ve been to Lake Tahoe. But, I bet you didn’t know that the whole Reno/Tahoe area is filled with great restaurants to get fantastic grilled cheese sandwiches. If you are ever back up there, don’t pass up the sandwich menus!

I love a good grilled cheese and I melt the butter in the skillet and then slide the slice around to butter the bread. Also, I know this sounds crazy but try this grilled cheese. Havarti and Fontina cheese or just one or the other, honey, fresh basil and tomato. It is so savory .... you can thank me later. I LOVE you and Ronnie and laugh my way through the podcast....both of you have contagious laughs!

Grilled cheese with American Cheese is superior! The only exception I make occasionally is when I make a pesto grilled cheese with Gruyere cheese.

Does the sandwich ever get soggy if you cover?

I didn't have that issue. It's not covered long enough. But if it's a concern, you can merely cover only until the first flip. In that case you'll be fine because the slice that had been exposed to potential steam will now be on the pan for crisping.

Love a grilled cheese. Growing up, my mom always served it to dip in syrup. I didn’t learn till I was much older that no one else did this. I must say, worth a try.
